It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Burl Shuler, Vice President of Technical Sales to GSI Group and friend to all.

He was 61 years old.

Burl was known for his patient manner and decisive thinking.

Excellence was his trademark.

He served as a foundational pillar to our company for over thirty years.

From his hire date in April of 1978 he served as VP of Storage and Equipment, Senior Vice President, General Manager, Engineering Manager, Vice President of Sales and a recent transition to Vice President of Technical Sales.

His career track was successful enough to bless many of GSI’s greats with a taste of his influence.

His legacy is now a benchmark at GSI.

Burl leaves behind his wife Jean of over 41 years, three children and ten grandchildren.

The Shuler’s have extended an invitation to Burl’s corporate family to attend the visitation at McCracken-Dean Funeral Home in Pana, IL on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, July 2 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church.
